has home depot owner ken langone withdrawn support for donald trump? fact-checking claim

Billionaire Ken Langone, known for his ardent support for the Republican party, made headlines for his skepticism over Donald Trump's presidential candidacy in an interview with Fox News back in January this year. Recently, posts have been circulating on social media claiming that Langone has withdrawn his support for Trump.

The posts came as a surprise, especially given that Bernie Marcus, another co-owner of Home Depot, went as far as to say in November 2023 that he will continue donating to the 78-year-old even if Trump becomes a convicted criminal. However, Times Now Digital can confirm that though Langone, a Nikki Hailey supporter, had expressed skepticism over Trump's candidacy, there is no evidence to suggest that he has stopped donating to the party.

Here is one such post claiming that Langone has 'abandoned' Trump.

Meanwhile, here's the original video where Langone expressed skepticism over Trump's candidature:

Donald Trump and Langone have not seen eye-to-eye on many occasions, with the 89-year-olf being critical of Trump questioning the veracity of the 2020 election results. Back in 2021, he had said that he felt betrayed by Trump's attempt to overturn the 2020 election results.

However, as per a report published on Fox Business on July 17, 2024, Langone expressed support for the former president after an assassination attempt was made on the latter at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

"Saturday night is the beginning of an opportunity for him to carve a very significant place in history. I'll tell you why," Langone said.

"One guy that ought to be really impacted by Trump's performance Saturday night, if I was Putin across the table from him, I'd say, ‘Hey, I better not bluff or I better not think this guy won't pull the trigger. This guy will pull the trigger.’ He proved that Saturday night.

Trump's 'Hush-Money' Conviction

Former President Donald Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in his hush money trial. This landmark verdict makes Trump the first former U.S. president to be convicted of a felony. The charges are related to a payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 campaign.

Trump's sentencing is set for July 11, 2024, with potential outcomes ranging from prison time to probation. Despite his conviction, Trump remains eligible to run for the 2024 presidential election.
