Leading England just for the third time in his career, Harry Brook scored the first ODI century of his career and showcased why he is regarded among the brightest young talents in the world. Brook's stunning unbeaten knock of 110 in 94 balls helped England register a 46 run victory (DL method) over Australia in the 3rd ODI at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street and stay alive in the series.
Coming into the game, Engand were 2-0 down in the series and facing a threat of losing the series with two matches to go. After Brook won the toss and decided to bowl first, Australia posted a massive total of 304 on the board. The hosts made a miserable start as Mitchell Starc dismissed both Phil Salt and Ben Duckett for single digit scores.
However, Brook put up a massive 156-run partnership with Will Jacks for the third wicket. While Jacks was dismissed after making 84 runs in 82 balls, the stand-in skipper ensured England were in a comfortable postion when the match was stopped due to rain.

By virtue of his ton, Brook wrote his name in the history books and became the youngest England captain to score a century in ODI Cricket. The 25-year-old broke Alaister Cook's 13-year-old record, who held the incredible feat since 2011 when he hit a century against Sri Lanka while leading England in an ODI at Lord's in 2011.

Why is Harry Brook Leading England?
Brook was named England captain for the series due to the absence of regular skipper Jos Buttler due to a calf injury. While Phil Salt led the Three Lions in the T20I series, Brook was given the responsibility in the ODIs.
Brook-led England were comprehensively beaten in the first two ODIs but managed to keep the series alive in the third match. England's victory on Tuesday (September 24) also ended Australia's 14-match winning run in ODI cricket.
