Happy Dussehra 2024 Wishes And Quotes Live: Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is one of the most significant Hindu festivals celebrated across India, it falls on 12th October 2024 . This festival marks the victory of good over evil and is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology.

The epic Ramayana, where Dussehra celebrates Lord Rama’s victory over the demon king Ravana. According to the story, Ravana abducted Rama’s wife, Sita, which led to a fierce battle between Rama and Ravana. After a ten-day war, Rama, with the help of his brother Lakshmana and the loyal devotee Hanuman, defeated Ravana on the tenth day, signifying the victory of righteousness and dharma (moral order).

From the Mahabharata, Dussehra signifies the victory of Goddess Durga over demon Mahishasura. After nine days of battle, Durga emerged victorious on the tenth day, which symbolizes the destruction of evil forces.

The festival is celebrated with much fervor throughout the country, with regional variations. In the northern states, particularly in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, large effigies of Ravana, along with those of his brothers Kumbhakarna and Meghnada, are burnt in public gatherings as a symbolic gesture of the victory of good. This event is preceded by dramatic reenactments of the Ramayana, called Ramlila.

In West Bengal, Dussehra is marked as the culmination of Durga Puja, where devotees bid farewell to the goddess Durga after nine days of worship. In the southern states, the festival celebrates the victory of Goddess Chamundeshwari over Mahishasura, and cultural programs, processions, and fairs are held in her honor.

Dussehra signifies the end of negative forces and ushers in peace, prosperity, and harmony, making it a day of joy and celebration.
