A Graham-Kapowsin High School student was shot on Tuesday morning, as confirmed by Bethel School District 403 in a message to parents. The shooting took place near the intersection of 186th and 82nd in the Graham area, Washington. The student, who has not been identified, was rushed to a local hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Bethel School District 403 sent the following message to the parents –
"Good morning, Bethel School District families.
This morning, a Graham-Kapowsin High School student was shot near the intersection of 186th and 82nd in the Graham area. Pierce County deputies were on the scene immediately, and the student was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Our thoughts are with the student and their family. Counselors and social workers will be available at GKHS today for students who need support.
We are working closely with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, and we thank them for their quick response to this incident."
The residents of Graham area also received an automated call from Bethel School District informing them about the shooting.
"Oh my…I just got done looking at news feeds from all over Western WA regarding shootings this weekend and now just got an automated call from Bethel School District to inform a student from Graham Kapowsin High School was shot at 182nd and 82nd this morning and has non life-threatening injuries," one person wrote on Facebook.
Another resident wrote, "Just got a call from bethel school district. A GK high school student was shot this morning."
