google wants iphone users to choose gemini ai over apple intelligence: all details

To compete with ChatGPT and Apple Intelligence, Google is reportedly planning to launch a standalone Gemini AI app for iPhone users. Currently, Gemini AI has limited support and features, which can only be accessed through the Google app. However, this might change soon as iPhones are rumoured get a separate Gemini app to explore the AI features offered by Google.

If this happens, Google will have the advantage as ChatGPT and Apple Intelligence features are limited to the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and all new iPhone 16 models. Also, the search giant might bring its AI features to older iPhone models as well.

The standalone app would offer iPhone users a more direct and streamlined AI assistant experience. This could give Google an edge over Apple as millions of people using older generation models would be able to enjoy AI features on their iPhones without missing out on the exclusivity of Apple Intelligence on the latest models.

According to reports, an iPhone user from the Philippines was able to download the standalone Gemini app from the App Store. The user also shared an unofficial App Store link of the app. However, the application is still not available in regions outside of the Philippines.

A Reddit user, u/lostshenanigans, shared screenshots of the app in action, showing features that are not yet available in the existing Google app integration. Google will introduce an updated interface for Gemini on iOS.

One of the key features is Gemini Live, which enables users to interact with the AI assistant through voice commands. Currently, Gemini Live is only available on Android devices.

Gemini Live is also expected to bring the Live Activity feature on iOS, enabling it to remain active in the background while the iPhone is in use for operation via voice command or custom action. However, it remains unclear which iPhone models and iOS versions will fully support new Gemini AI features.

Currently, the Gemini AI app from Google is in a testing phase, with a broader release potentially coming in the next few weeks
