KK aka Krishnakumar Kunnath was one of the most legendary singers of Bollywood. The artist gave us some of the most memorable songs that are etched in our memories likeAankon Mein Teri, Dil Ibadat, Meri Maa and Khuda Jaane. On this day, 25 October, in 1996, KK made became a playback singer with the song , Chhod Aaye Hum, as a feature in the movie, Maachis. To honour the singer, Google has dedicated a special doodle to him.

Google's tribute to KK

In the doodle, KK is seen in his true element, with a microphone in his hand, doing what he loved the most – performing his craft. In the about section of the doodle, Google wrote, "On this day in 1996, KK debuted as a playback singer on the song, Chhod Aaye Hum, as a feature in the movie, Maachis."

Writing about the singer, the note further said, "Kunnath was born on August 23rd, 1968 in Delhi, India. He attended the Kirori Mal College of Delhi University and shortly worked in marketing before transitioning fully to music. In 1994, he submitted a demo tape to popular Indian artists and got his start performing commercial jingles. KK made his debut as a Hindi cinema playback singer in 1999 with the song Tadap Tadap from the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

About KK

KK released his first album Pal in 1999 and started out super strong. KK has sung an astounding 3,500 jingles in 11 languages. Throughout his three-decade-long career, he sang over 500 songs in Hindi and more than 200 in regional languages like Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, and Malayalam.

KK also received six Filmfare Award nominations and two Star Screen Awards for his works, among many other accolades and honours. KK died on May 31, 2022 at the age of 53 years in Kolkata after a concert. A statue was raised in the city to celebrate the late musician’s legacy and impact.
