Former NCT member Taeil is facing the prosecution for a quasi-rape charge. The idol, who was accused of a sexual offense in June 2024, has been sent to prosecution without detention.
Taeil charged for rape of drunk woman
On October 7, Korean media outlet Chosun Ilbo reported that Taeil had been investigated under the suspicion of aggravated quasi-rape by the Bangbae Police Station in Seoul. For the unversed, aggravated quasi-rape involves committing rape while armed with a weapon or acting in concert with two or more people against a victim who is incapacitated to resist.
The former NCT member was reportedly accused of sexually assaulting a woman, who was intoxicated, along with two acquaintances in June 2024. It is believed that none of his acquaintances involved in the crime are public figures. Taeil's case was transferred to the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office on September 12. However, they have yet to summon the K-pop idol.

After the news surfaced online, NCT's label SM Entertainment released a brief statement. "It is difficult to comment as the matter is currently under investigation," the agency stated.
Taeil exits NCT over sexual offense allegations
On August 28, SM Entertainment had announced Taeil’s exit from NCT as the singer had been accused of a sexual offense. The label released an official statement that read, “We have recently learned that Taeil has been accused in a criminal case related to a sexual offense. As we were assessing the facts related to the matter, we recognized the severity of the situation and determined that Taeil can no longer continue his activities with the team.” SM Entertainment had also shared that Taeil was cooperating with the police investigation, which is being carried out by the Seoul Bangbae Police.
