At SEMA 2024, Toyota unveiled the "RAV-X Concept," a bold new take on its popular RAV4. Moving away from the Hyryder, the RAV-X combines off-road ruggedness with futuristic design, showcasing Toyota's vision for adventure-ready, tech-packed vehicles.
Intro
Toyota has unveiled a new concept at the 2024 SEMA Show, giving the RAV4 a rugged, off-road makeover. The RAV-X Concept features a tough, adventure-ready design, built for those who love exploring the outdoors. It combines style with performance, showcasing Toyota's latest innovation in SUV design.
Engine
The Toyota RAV-X Concept is powered by the RAV4's PHEV hybrid system, featuring a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force 4-cylinder engine. It delivers a combined output of 219 horsepower, with the internal combustion engine producing 176 hp at 5,300 rpm, and electric motors providing 118 hp (front) and 54 hp (rear). The system offers a range of drive modes including SPORT, Eco, NORMAL, EV, and *TRAIL, with torque ratings of 149 lb-ft (front) and 89 lb-ft (rear).
Design
The Toyota RAV-X rolls on a new set of forged aluminium wheels, wrapped in 265/65R17 tires for improved off-road capability. Its rally-inspired livery, red mud flaps, reinforced off-road bumpers with skid plates, and improved approach and departure angles give it a rugged, functional edge. Additional details like LED lights, enlarged cooling intakes, a vented hood, widened fender flares, a rear spoiler, and high-clearance dual exhaust pipes complete its bold, aggressive look.
Suspension
The Toyota RAV-X is equipped with a long-travel suspension featuring fully adjustable 2.5-inch internal bypass shocks, with front-mounted external reservoirs and rear piggyback reservoirs. Upgrades also include forged aluminium lower control arms in the front and upper supports in the rear, designed to handle tough terrain. These modifications provide a 2-inch lift and increase the track width by 6.3 inches (160 mm), giving the RAV-X a more aggressive, stable stance.
