The Indian cricket team marked their first T20I on home soil after being crowned World Champions in style by winning the first T20I against Bangladesh by a comprehensive margin of seven wickets with 49 balls to spare. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side created history with a huge win that saw them set an all-time record. After winning the toss and bowling first, the Indian bowling unit was at the top of their game and bowled out the visitors for just 127. Arshdeep Singh and Varun Charkarvarthy took three wickets each, while Hardik Pandya, Mayank Yadav, and Washington Sundar got one scalp each.

In reply, India registered their highest T20I powerplay score against Bangladesh by putting up 71 runs despite Abhishek Sharma's early run-out. Both Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson scored 29 runs each, while Hardik Pandya finished the game with a quick-fire knock of 39 in 16 balls.
