Finnish singer Robin Packalen is in love with Indian culture and of course the music! While touring with Alan Walker for his Walkerworld Tour, the pop artiste understood the musical roots and revealed to Zoom exclusively that he would incorporate some desi flavour into his songs.
Talking to us exclusively, Robin spoke up about his upcoming collaboration with Alan Walker which releases on November 11. The singer further said he is open to singing a Hindi song if the language is taught to him.
Excerpts from the interview:
Could you tell us something about the upcoming collaboration with Alan Walker?
Alan and I have done a lot together and this upcoming release together is very exciting indeed because up until now we haven’t released anything together. However, I have been touring together with him for about a year now. So, getting a song out together with Alan is fantastic. This collaboration was easy. I just received a call from Alan and he was like, “Hey, man, I feel like this song could fit your voice very well. Would you mind to try it out?” They at that point had already tried to make it work with other people as well. Then I was like, yeah, why not? Then I went to the studio, gave it a go and he liked it. The song is very, very good. It’s coming out in, let’s say, three weeks or something. I am really happy about it because obviously, I’ve known Alan for about three years now. So finally, I was able to put something out in music form together with him.
You have fans in India. Do you plan to sing a Hindi song for them?
I haven’t planned to sing in Hindi. Just because of the fact that I don’t know that language too well, but if someone would teach me a song in Hindi, that would be nice.

How is the Finnish pop scene similar to the Indian music world?
Pop music is pretty much the same everywhere. Of course, there are some differences because languages sound different phonetically and that makes a huge difference in how the song will sound like. There are lyric differences as well. In Finland, we tend to gravitate more towards sad songs. I’m not sure whether it is the same in India too. Maybe here the focus is on emotions like happiness and good vibes
Have you seen any Indian movies?
I have watched some Bollywood movies. Especially now that we are here, Slumdog Millionaire is one of my favourites.
Will we get to see you incorporate the Indian style of music in your songs?
I have incorporated the Indian style of guitar in my previous songs but haven’t done so in recent years. I would now love to after experiencing the culture. I know better what I’m talking about and I should dedicate one song to that style.
