UPDATE: As of 5:30 p.m. EDT Sunday, the vegetation fire in Fairfield, California, has expanded to 15 acres. Although the blaze’s forward progress has been halted, evacuation warnings remain in effect.

"CAL FIRE LNU is in unified command with Fairfield Fire. Fire is approximately 15 acres in grass burning at a moderate rate of spread. Additionally FRF 1860 and FRF 1874 is now under evacuation warnings," CAL Fire LNU reported on X.

"Forward progress of the fire has been stopped. Air and ground resources continue working on the perimeter of the fire. Evacuation warnings remain in place," the agency added in a follow-up post.

ORIGINAL STORY: A vegetation fire broke out in Fairfield, California, on Sunday, near the intersection of Interstate 80 and Highway 12 in Cordelia. By 5 p.m. EDT, the blaze had spread to roughly 10 acres, posing a threat to nearby structures.

"CAL FIRE/Napa County Fire and other local agencies are at scene of a vegetation fire near I-80 and Highway 12, Cordelia," CAL Fire LNU reported on X.

In a subsequent update, the agency stated, "Air attack is reporting the fire to be approximately 10 acres in grass burning at a moderate rate of spread. Structures are threatened at the head of the fire."
