After the ongoing Test Series against New Zealand gets over, India are all set to return to the T20I format, as they travel to South Africa for a four-match series in the shortest format of the game from November 8. BCCI have announced the squad for this series. While players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill etc are missing because of their involvement in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy later that month against Australia in Australia, some other T20I regulars are missing like Riyan Parag, Shivam Dube, and even Mayank Yadav, who had a great debut for India in the series vs Bangladesh.
Why Shivam Dube, Mayank Yadav, Riyan Parag Have Not Been Selected For Series Vs South Africa
Mayank Yadav made a massive impression in the IPL 2024 for the Lucknow Super Giants where he emerged as the second fastest bowler in Indian history. However, he was out injured after playing just 4 games in the competition. He recovered and finally made his India debut in the recently concluded T20I series vs Bangladesh, where he impressed taking 4 wickets from the three games. However, despite the performances, the injury crisis to the young pacer seems to have taken over once again, as it has forced him to miss the series vs South Africa.
Shivam Dube, who was ruled out of the Bangladesh T20I series with a back injury, is yet to recover from and hence misses out as well.
Riyan Parag has become an integral part of India's white-ball squad after the T2o World Cup 2024 triumph. However, he too misses out on the series against South Africa. This is because the all-rounder is currently at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to find a long-term resolution to his chronic right shoulder injury
