Led by Jasprit Bumrah, his “idol,” the Indian pace bowling attack will do very well in Australia during the test series later this year, said Umran Malik, a genuine quick bowler.
Speaking to TIMES NOW before an event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Malik who has played 18 times for India for 24 wickets and is currently recovering from injury, said the Australian tracks have bounce, and the Indian attack including Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj will get wickets there. “They have the skill to get wickets in flat tracks. I can say with 100 percent certainty that they are good,” he said.
Speaking about Bumrah, the Indian vice-captain, Malik said he’s in touch with him. “He’s my idol and I often speak with him.” Speaking about the Indian batsmen, he said: “You know them. They’ll do well.” He added: “I am promising you that India will win.”
Asked about the future of Saudi Arab cricket, keeping in mind the rise of Afghanistan despite the lack of resources and logistics, he said the Afghans have taken four to six years to come up. They have worked hard and got the necessary exposure. In the case of Saudi Arabia, Malik said the talent is there, but the exposure is necessary.
That will happen, he said, when cricket arrives here. “Potential hai,” he said, but “mehnat karne parega (hard work is necessary)” he said when the Saudis get themselves a national team.
