The IPL is all set to return for its 18th edition in 2025, as fans will be looking forward to see how teams will be revamped after the mega auction that is set to take place soon. One team that will be looking to change their fortunes an win their first-ever IPL trophy is Punjab Kings. They would be looking to revamp their team after the retirement of their captain Shikhar Dhawan, and they have already started to rejig their backroom staff with the addition of a new coach in Ricky Ponting. However, reports say that they have also parted ways with two more staff members.

Punjab Kings Part Ways With Sanjay Bangar

According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, Punjab Kings let go of their Director of Cricket Development Sanjay Bangar and their former head coach Trevor Bayliss. The decision was, according to report, taken by the Punjab Kings board which consists of the four co-owners of the franchise.

Sanjay Bangar's first stint at Punjab Kings started in 2014 as their head coach till 2016, when he was appointed as Team India assistant coach. He then rejoined PBKS in 2023 as their director of cricket development after a stint as head coach of Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The decision was taken just a few days after Ricky Ponting was appointed as their head coach.

Ponting With Replace English Players With Australian Core At PBKS

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that ge expects Ricky Potint to completely remove their group of English players, including players bought for hefty prices. He said that they will replace them with an Australian core.

"What will you expect from Ricky Ponting? Firstly, I feel the gathering of English players there will get removed. Everyone will be sent, those bought for 18 crores or 12 crores. You won't have so many English players there now," Chopra said.

Now there will be some change there. Now you will have Australian players there. Ponting placed plenty of faith in his compatriots with Delhi, including David Warner, Marcus Stoinis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, and Mitchell Marsh over the years,” he added.
