energy secretary pick chris wright gave $475,000 to donald trump's campaign? report surfaces

A report has surfaced on the website Climate Power following Liberty Energy CEO Chris Wright's nomination by President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday as the Secretary of the United States Department of Energy. The report lists the executives in the top oil companies that donated to the Trump campaign, and it included Chris Wright and his wife Liz Wright.

As per the report, Chris and Liz White donated $475,000 to the Donald Trump campaign, contributing to over $10 million to the GOP candidate raised from top oil company executives in the United States. Times Now Digital cannot independently verify the claims made in the report by Climate Power.

Notably, Climate Power is an advocacy group that holds “Big Oil accountable”, as per their Instagram profile. It declares that it is working with the administration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris “in shaping a clean energy future.”

Trump announced Wright as the Secretary of the Department of Energy as well as the chief of the Council of National Energy via a statement posted on Truth Social, his sociam media platform. Describing him as a "leading technologist and entrepreneur in Energy," Trump said that he was "thrilled" to announce the Denver, Colorado-based executive as the latest addition to his upcoming administration.

"[Chris] has worked in Nuclear, Solar, Geothermal, and Oil and Gas," Trump wrote. "Most significantly, Chris was one of the pioneers who helped launch the American Shale Revolution that fueled American Energy Independence, and transformed the Global Energy Markets and Geopolitics."

Wright, known for claiming that fossil fuel is not responsible for climate change despite scientific studies saying otherwise. He is expected to push forward with Donald Trump's "drill baby, drill" agenda – a key theme of his 2024 campaign trail.

Liberty Energy, the company Wright is the chairman of, is involved in fracking, an agenda that reportedly helped Trump sway voters in his favour, especially in oil-rich Pennsylvania where fracking is a major industry.

As per reports, Wright was always a frontrunner for the role in Donald Trump's transition team and the President-elect formalizing it was only a matter of time. Over the last few weeks, Trump has made several key appointments in his administration, including Matt Gatez and the Attorney General, Susie Wiles as the White House chief of staff, Marco Rubio as the Secretary of State and former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard as the Director of National Intelligence.
