elon musk launches x tv streaming service with live channels and cloud dvr features

Elon Musk recently announced a new streaming service, X TV, through his social media platform X. The app allows users to stream movies, shows, and live TV from various sources. Currently, X TV is available in beta for Android TVs, LG TVs, Amazon Fire TV, and Google TV, with plans to expand to more devices in the future.

Musk did not specify when X TV would be widely available, but reports indicate that Amazon Fire TV users had access to the app as early as July, while LG TVs received it on August 29. X TV, also known as X-Stream Service TV, aims to simplify the streaming experience by eliminating the need for a set-top box. According to its Google Play Store listing, the app offers a variety of live channels, including movies, music, news, sports, and weather updates.

The app comes with several key features designed to enhance user experience. Replay TV allows viewers to watch shows from up to 72 hours in the past, making it easier to catch up on missed content. Startover TV lets users restart live shows if they join late, ensuring they don’t miss any key moments. Additionally, X TV includes Free Cloud DVR, which allows users to record up to 100 hours of content without extra costs.

While the service is still in its early stages, the integration of convenient features like cloud DVR and time-shifted viewing options positions it as a potential competitor in the crowded streaming market. The future rollout to more devices will likely increase its user base and solidify its place in the streaming landscape.
