The ten-day festival of Durga Puja holds an important place in the heart of every Indian. Be it a celebrity or a common man, on this auspicious occasion everyone offers prayers and bhog to Maa Durga to seek her blessings. Bollywood actress Kajol is no different. Just like the last year, she is celebrating Durga Puja again with some hearty Bengali bhog dishes. On Wednesday, Kajol with her cousin Rani Mukerji was spotted seeking blessings at North Bombay Durga Puja pandal. But do you know what her festive bhog looks like?

Recently, in an Instagram post shared by Riddhima Seal, the Bollywood diva's Durga Puja bhog in Mumbai is revealed. Placed in an eco-friendly pattal (leaf plates), the platter included khichudi, beguni and a couple of hearty Bengali vegetable preparations. The bhog not only appears to be delicious but is also healthy, showcasing the rich Bengali offerings of Durga Puja.

Here are the dishes Kajol included in her Durga Puja bhog platter.

Khichudi

This is a quintessential dish of Durga Puja bhog and holds a special place in the Bengali cuisine. Flavourful, sacred and nourishing, it is made with rice, moong dal and vegetables like peas, tomato and potatoes. Ghee along with a tempering of spices like cumin and also used in the recipe to enhance the taste of the dish.

Beguni

Beguni is a crispy Bengali-style fritter that is made by coating thin slices of eggplant (begun) in a gram flour batter. It is then deep-fried until perfection and served along with khichudi for Durga Puja bhog.

Labra

It is a traditional Bengali mixed vegetable curry, commonly served during Durga Puja Bhog. Hearty and nourishing, labra feature a medley of vegetables like pumpkin, sweet potatoes, brinjal and raw banana, cooked in mustard oil with a few spices like panch phoron.

Aloo Potol Torkari

This is a simple yet flavourful Bengali curry that is made with potatoes and pointed gourd. This torkari is cooked with spices like turmeric and cumin and can be served as an accompaniment of khichudi in the bhog platter.
