In what could be nothing short of a miracle, an 18-year-old Australian man survived a high-speed crash in which the Mazda 6 sedan he was driving split in half. The accident took place earlier this week in Sydney. Though the concerned authorities are still determining the cause of the crash, it has been discovered that the teen behind the wheel of the Mazda 6 was drunk.

The Hills Police Area command shared images of the crash, showing the mangled remains of the Mazda 6 sedan. The impact tore open the rear half of the vehicle from the B-Pillar onwards. The sheared half of the car ended up getting wedged between the walls of two nearby houses on the street where the crash took place.

Thankfully, the sedan's front half kept its structural integrity, and airbags were successfully deployed, keeping the teenage driver secure. The crash occurred when the Mazda6, travelling at high speed, crashed into another vehicle driven by a 45-year-old. The other driver also did not sustain any life-threatening injuries.

The Australian authorities arrested the teen, who was behind the wheel of the Mazda 6, on account of drunk driving. His alcohol level was found to be 0.110. In Australia, the legal limit is 0.05. Police "immediately suspended" the teenager's licence, and he is likely looking at a substantial fine, which could be accompanied by jail time.
