Flash floods in Bangkok brought massive destruction including sweeping away a sanctuary dedicated to elephants. The disaster resulted in the death of two elephants and rest others were bound to evacuate.
Amongst those who passed away was Ploy Thong, a blind elephant. While addressing the grave situation, Saengduean, founder of the sanctuary stated that Northern Thailand has gone through flash floods and life threatening landslides, all because of a typhoon Yagi which is also termed as the deadliest storm of Asia.
Moreover Saengduean stated as reported by CNN, that there were several adult elephants who were still trapped in waters.
As videos surface from the sanctuary, it can be seen how elephants are walking in the rising water levels hoping to get to a safety zone as soon as possible.
Taking a note of the grave situation, officials of Chiang Mai have announced an alert regarding potential floods due to rising water levels in the Ping river. As the sanctuary has been facing problems, the founder has urged for immediate help from the officials.
Alongside the animals, there are around 30 volunteers who are trapped in the sanctuary.
The sanctuary is dedicated to elephants who are rescued or have escaped ultimate cruelty to live a peaceful life ahead. Most elephants who are bought to the center are being seen to be suffering from some kind of health issues. Not only that the sanctuary has opened its doors to many animals including rabbits, horses, pigs, cats and many more.
