The skies over Israel were lit up late Tuesday night as Iran launched a barrage of at least 180 missiles, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between the two nations.

Shocking footage reportedly recorded from the inside of a flight en route to Dubai showed Iranian missiles being fired, New York Post reported. The authenticity of the video has not been confirmed by Times Now. Fortunately, all missiles passed safely above the aircraft.

Videos shared on social media captured the missiles soaring over cities such as Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, with some successfully evading Israel's robust Iron Dome air defence system. Footage also depicted debris from intercepted missiles landing in various locations across Israel.

While both Israel and the United States reported limited impact from the strikes, Iranian state television, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, claimed that 90% of the missiles hit strategic targets. However, independent assessments of the damage have not been released.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the missile launch as a grave mistake on Iran's part, stating during a security cabinet meeting, "The regime in Iran does not grasp our determination to defend ourselves."

The missile strike was reportedly a response to recent Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, which included a significant operation that resulted in the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and the deployment of Israeli ground forces across the border.

U.S. President Joe Biden expressed strong support for Israel, dismissing Iran's attack as "ineffective." Vice President Kamala Harris reiterated this stance, asserting that the U.S. would not hesitate to protect its interests against Iran.

"We will take action. Iran will soon face the repercussions of their actions, and the response will be severe," warned Israel's U.N. Ambassador Danny Danon during a press briefing.

The situation remains tense as both nations prepare for potential further confrontations.
