President-elect Donald Trump and President Joe Biden met at the White House on Wednesday. The two shook hands and joked about 'hounding reporters'. This is the first time the Republican visited the Oval Office since his win over Vice President Kamala Harris on November 5. The two leaders spoke about a 'peaceful transition'.
“Politics is tough and in many cases it’s not a nice world, but it is a nice world today,” Trump said. Kamala Harris was not present nor mentioned in the meeting.

As Trump sat down near the fire place, Biden congratulated him. "Well Mr. President-elect, Donald, congratulations. I look forward to having a smooth transition," the president said. The Republican thanked him.

"Politics is tough. In many cases is it not a nice world but it is a nice world today," the president-elect further added. Talking about the transition process, he said: "It will be as smooth as it can get and I very much appreciate that, Joe."
Melania Trump did not accompany her husband to the White House. But first lady Jill Biden joined the president in greeting Donald Trump upon his arrival. She gave the president-elect a handwritten letter of congratulations for Melania.

No Trump staff or allies were seen in the Oval Office on Wednesday, even though Tesla CEO Elon Musk accompanied the president-elect to Washington DC and sat for a meeting.
Ahead of his meeting with Biden, Trump spoke to House Republicans at a hotel on Capitol Hill. He flew to Washington D.C. from Palm Beach on Wednesday morning, landing at Andrews Air Force Base.
"Isn't it nice to win? It's nice to win," he told his party members.
