'doesn't deserve, add a match referee too' : ex pakistan batter slams pcb for including umpire aleem dar in selection committee

In a surprising turn of events, ICC umpire, Aleem Dar has been appointed in the National Selection Committee of the Pakistan cricket team. It left the entire social media in shock and former Pakistan batsman, Basit Ali didn't take Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) decision in good sport.

The 53-year old opined that Dar is great, when it comes to being a human being or an umpire, but by no means he deserves a chance to be a member of the Selection Committee. Ali took a sly dig at the board and joked that they should also hire a match referee along with a media personnel as well.

He made it very clear that people will definitely raise their voices against the decision made.

''This is an absolutely surprising decision. It is surprising to me that Aleem Dar has been added to the selection committee. He was a great umpire and is a very good human but he doesn't deserve to be there. Not now, but in the coming days, voices will be raised. If you have kept an umpire in the selection committee, then please add a match referee too along with one person from the media'', Ali told on his YouTube channel.

The 56-year old Dar was appointed in the revamped selection committee following Pakistan's embarrassing loss on the hands of England by an inning and 47 runs. The other members of the committee include ex Test players Aaqib Javed and Azhar Ali along with analyst Hasan Cheema.

Aleem is a well known umpire in the international circuit as he has officiated a total of 448 international matches across all formats. His glorious career as an umpire will come to a close, following the 2024-25 domestic season of Pakistan cricket.

As the 1st Test is over, the first task of the national committee will be to choose the squad for the upcoming two Tests against England as they look to bounce back in the series.
