New Delhi: Four months after a woman was reported missing in Kanpur, the police recovered her dead body from near the District Magistrate’s residence. A gym trainer has been arrested in connection with the case.
The woman was killed in June, according to the police.
The gym trainer, police said, killed the woman after an heated argument during a training session. The accused initally tried to mislead the cops but later admitted to the crime after police interrogated him strictly.
The victim, identified as Ekta, was reported missing on June 24. Her husband lodged a kidnapping complaint against the gym trainer, who subsequently vanished.
When police caught Vimal, he initially misled them, giving varying stories of Ekta's whereabouts in Kashmir and Punjab. After sustained questioning, he finally confessed, revealing he had buried Ekta in a government club premises near district magistrate's residences. Following his confession, authorities secured the site and initiated an overnight excavation with heavy police presence.
"The victim used to go to the accused's gym to train… The victim was particularly displeased about something and had a heated argument with the accused, after which the latter murdered her and buried her here… He dug a pit here and buried her body… He tried to mislead the case but when we interrogated him strictly, he revealed the truth," said DCP East, Shravan Kumar Singh, according to ANI.
