disco is inspired by real life incidents reveals vikky varun exclusive

After making his acting debut with the critically acclaimed film, Kendasampige directed by Suri, Vikky Varun followed it up with 2017 Kannada hit film College Kumar. Directed by Hari Santhosh, College Kumar was a success. Now, after a gap of seven years the duo is teaming up once again for their next venture, Disco.

Inspired by real life incidents

Speaking exclusively with Times Now, Vikky Varun reveals that his next film Disco is based on real life incidents that he encountered in his life. Vikky Varun has written the story and screenplay. Hari Santhosh, who is directing the film, has jointly written the screenplay along with Vikky Varun.

“In fact, I had written the story for Disco several years ago. However, we had kept it aside while waiting for the right time to take it up for making. We felt that the time has come to narrate the story to the audience, hoping that they will embrace with similar response to my previous films including College Kumar and my recent directorial debut film Kaalapatthar,” said Vikky Varun.

The actor-director further clarified that despite its title, Disco is not a musical. Instead, the title refers to the male protagonist’s nickname ‘Disco’ for his hyperactive characteristics. Also, the film is set in multiple places as the film is a road thriller with satire elements, he added.

Back-to-back films

With just three films to his credit since making his debut as an actor for over a decade, Vikky Varun plans to star in at least one to two films per year.

"I have two projects in the pipeline but will announce them once the projects get the final green signal. For Disco, M B Dhruva, who worked in the team of popular composer Anirudh Ravichander is making his debut as composer. The film is produced by Prashant Kallur under Pen ‘N Paper Studios, Screen 1st Studios and Kallur Cinemas,” he concludes.
