However, as posed on X, platform formerly known as Twitter, the video is not from the 78-year-old's 2024 campaign. The clip is from 2016.
In the viral video, Trump can be heard saying: "I’m a big fan of Hindus and India; if elected as President, the Indian community will have a true friend in the White House."

A reverse image search of keyframes from the video shows that Trump made the reported remarks on October 16, 2016 in Edison, New Jersey. He was running against former secretary of state Hillary Clinton. At the rally, the former president said he is a 'big fan of Hindus' and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding that India is a key ally.

At the New Jersey rally, Donald Trump said that PM Modi's view of government was in line with his own. "I look forward to doing some serious bureaucratic trimming right here in the United States," the 2024 Republican nominee said. He added that India would be the United States' 'most significant ally in his administration.
