New Delhi: The Delhi Traffic Police on Sunday announced traffic will be affected on certain routes including Sarai Julena to Jamia Metro, Kalindi Kunj to Jamia and Bharat Nagar to Batla House. The traffic arrangements will be made in view of MAZLIS-E-AZA and procession of ALAM-E-MUBARAK from Noor Nagar on September 1. The restrictions will be in place from 2 pm today.
"In view of MAZLIS-E-AZA and procession of ALAM-E-MUBARAK from Noor Nagar on 01.09.2024, elaborate traffic arrangements have been made and in order to avoid inconvenience to general commuters certain diversions and restrictions may be imposed," said the Delhi Traffic Police in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Traffic may be diverted from following points from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM depending upon the situation:
- Sarai Julena to Jamia Metro
- Kalindi Kunj to Jamia
- Bharat Nagar to Batla House

• Okhla Road from Sarai Julena to Kalindi Kunj
"General public and motorists are advised to keep patience, observe traffic rules and road discipline and follow direction of traffic personnel deployed at all intersections," said the traffic police.

Raahigiri Day Celebrations
Earlier in the day, Delhi celebrated Raahigiri Day to "reclaim Delhi's streets" with activities such as walking, skating, and performing arts at Connaught Place. To accommodate the large number of people expected, the Delhi Police have announced traffic restrictions. The event will be held in the inner circles of Connaught Place from 7 am to 10 am on Sunday. Due to which, traffic at Connaught Place were affected.
"Raahgiri Day will be celebrated by Raahgiri Foundation at Inner Circle Connaught Place. A large number (800-1000Appox.) of persons are expected to participate in this event and same will start from 06:00 AM on 01.09.2024. Therefore, congestion is expected from 06:00 AM till the completion of programme," said the traffic police.
