decoding the legacy of sunil kapur in building a massive indian f&b business with tfs and more

Today, after his retirement from the business, Sunil Kapur enjoys, taking a pit stop at a TFS lounge, or a meal at Copper Chimney, or a wedding at Blue Sea Banquets. All these businesses are connected by the vision of Sunil Kapur, building on the foundation of his father, JK Kapur, and his approach towards creating total food services experiences.

Today, Sunil Kapur’s sons, Karan Kapur and Varun Kapur, lead these ventures, transforming K Hospitality into one of India’s most respected F&B groups. The family has expanded the business into a major conglomerate, encompassing brands like Travel Food Services (TFS) – an exciting global travel food services business, Charcoal Concepts which runs restaurant brands such as Copper Chimney, Bombay Brasserie, and JOSHH, and Catering Collective which operates venue and catering businesses such as Blue Sea, Pavitra, and Araya Bagh, amongst other F&B businesses.

During his tenure, Sunil Kapur’s vision in scaling up businesses, while building a foundation focused on quality, people, and relationships, has been a pivotal factor in global partners partnering with TFS, a leading player in the Indian travel food services segment.

Karan Kapur and Varun Kapur have propelled the business further, modernizing operations through digital innovation and enhancing customer experience to now become one of the largest and most respected F&B companies in the country, with partnerships with leading companies and brands from across Indian and global markets. Recently, both Karan Sunil Kapur and Varun Sunil Kapur were also recognized with the highly coveted and prestigious Restaurant Entrepreneurs of the Year Award at the prestigious Indian Restaurants Award 2024 ceremony.

Despite enjoying retirement, Sunil Kapur’s vision, over 15 years ago, for TFS has not only improved the quality of food and service available to travellers but has also set a new standard for what airport dining can be in the country. Kapur’s leadership from 2009 to 2017 set the initial stage for the business, and now TFS has grown to even higher bounds, providing travellers with a world-class experience and reshaping expectations for airport hospitality across the nation.
