It is important to remember that as per the Right to Education Act, TET is now mandatory minimum qualification requirement for teaching positions till Class 8. Those interested in taking up teaching jobs in government or government aided schools need to have qualified either the state level or the central level TET examination. Furthermore, CTET is mandatory for central government teaching jobs in various schools, including the Navodaya Vidyalayas and the Kendriya Vidyalaya.
Furthermore, CTET Paper 1 is for teachers of class 1 to 5 while CTET Paper 2 is for candidates interested in teaching positions for classes 6 and 8. Also, candidates can apply for both of the papers or either one of the papers. In either of the instances (single or both papers), only one application form needs to be filled. This is important as in case of multiple applications, the application will be cancelled and the candidate will not be permitted to appear for any of the examination.
