'cristiano ronaldo could hit 1000 goals like pele, but…': ex-portugal star drops big prediction with a twist

Cristiano Ronaldo became the first ever player to hit 900 career goals. Despite hitting the twilight period of his career, the 39 year old hasn't stopped scoring goals.

Ronaldo broke the record when he netted the winning goal against Croatia in the UEFA Nations League recently. He further extended his tally with another winner against Scotland in the next game.

Ronaldo joined Al Nassr last year following the mutual termination of his contract with Manchester United. The former Real Madrid forward netted 44 goals last season and has already found the net four times this campaign.

There have been various rumours regarding his retirement but the Portuguese star has already shown he is still capable of turning the fate of the match on his own. Ronaldo already declared that Euro 2024 was his last appearance in the European Championship.

With the 900 goal barrier already breached, the target of reaching 1000 goals might not be easy. But former Portuguese star Jorge Andrade believes Cristiano Ronaldo can do the impossible.

During the Thinking Football Summit organised by Liga Portugal, Andrade backed the Portugal legend to score 100 goals before he hangs up his boots.

"With Cristiano Ronaldo, nothing is impossible.

"Since we've watched football, the idea of the 1,000 goals is associated with our great idol, Pele.

"But nowadays, both Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have managed to overcome other idols, Diego Maradona and Pele.

"They managed to be the highlight of the football game in a short time. It's not surprising Ronaldo can break that record. He looks after his body.

"He has a history of very few injuries. In terms of the Portuguese national team and the league he is in, he manages his efforts well."

Ronaldo missed Al Nassr's AFC Champions League Elita game against Al Shorta and the Saudi Arabian side played a 1-1 draw.
