The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor excise policy scam, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) celebrating his release from Tihar Jail. To mark the national convenor’s return, the party shared an edit of Shah Rukh Khan’s famous homecoming scene in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
“He is back,” AAP announced in a social media post. In the video, a smiling headshot of Kejriwal is overlaid on Shah Rukh (Rahul Raichand’s) face. It starts with the CM getting down from a helicopter, with Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan—“Delhiites” as per the edit—welcoming the apex court’s decision.
From the “iconic” chopper shot to the Aarti plate in Bachchan’s hand, the scene, immortalised in pop culture through memes, was utilised frame for frame by AAP.

The funny factor wasn’t lost on Instagram. Users were in on the joke, sharing their own takes and commentary on the CM’s release.
“Man, this is next-level nonsense. Are you guys [AAP] into politics or running a cartoon channel?,” one asked in Hindi.
“He [Arvind Kejriwal] is coming from jail and you are celebrating it like he made it back alive from the border,” wrote another.
Later comments pointed out how AAP has seemingly outdone the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by making a “joke” out of one of its own.
Kejriwal was first arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on charges of money-laundering six months ago. Later, in June, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for alleged corruption in connection with the Delhi Liquor Scam.
Upon his jail release on Friday, the CM said in a statement, “Today I want to say that I have come out of jail and my courage has increased 100 times. The walls of their jail cannot weaken the courage of Kejriwal. I will pray to god to continue showing me the right path and I will continue fighting against all the power who are trying to weaken the country and divide the country.”
