Capri Sun, a popular juice in the US, has become iconic for its foil packaging. In the US market since 1969, generations of people have come to fall in love with the drink, and especially the blue and yellow pouch. As a result, they recently faced backlash after rumours circulated that the company could replace the pouch with plastic bottles.
It all started with an Instagram account that creates content on news and updates on the food industry. Snackolaor, an Instagram account with over 400,000 followers, said in a post that Capri Sun is coming up with bottled drinks for adults. Although there was no mention that the pouches would be discontinued, the rumour started circulating that the company might discontinue it.
Several posts were made on social media, with people calling for the company to not discontinue the pouches. So much was the uproar, that the company said in a statement to the New York Post that there are no plans to discontinue the pouches.
“After seeing fans’ panic to the news, the brand behind the No. 1 kids’ drink in America is reassuring everyone that the pouch is here to stay in a truly epic way,” said.
“Rolling out exclusively at Walmart next week, Capri Sun is launching a pallet of 3,800+ Capri Sun pouches for purchase, ensuring no one misses out on their fave drink."
However, the company did not confirm if the news about bottled drinks for adults is true or not. Snackolator, in the post, said that the company has plans to introduce plastic bottles at the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) 2024 Show in Las Vegas from October 7 to 10. The company, however, is yet to either confirm or deny.
