SS Rajamouli’s directorial Sye released in 2004. The film that starred Nithiin went on to become a super hit at the box office. After two decades, Sye is set for re-release. According to reports, Mega Productions will re-release the film worldwide in 4K resolution. The development has certainly got Nithiin fans excited. The details regarding the re-release will be announced shortly.
Rajamouli Weaved The Sport Into The Narrative
Lack of original films at the box office coupled with theaters' helplessness to get feeding prompted the re-release trends. Sye too joins the bandwagon. The film features Nithin, Genelia D'Souza, Shashank and Pradeep Rawat, and the plot has a rugby backdrop. Many initially were unsure about the film’s result at the box office since the sport (Rugby) is not known in India. But the way Rajamouli weaved it into the narrative made everyone sit up and take notice. The director's ability to keep the narrative taut and straight helped the film gain traction and acclaim. It was one of the few sports dramas in Tollywood that did well.
When released, the film was a super hit and Rajamouli was able to score a hat trick at the box office after Student No. 1 and Simhadri. Rajamouli became one of the few directors in Tollywood to script a hattrick of successes.
Nithiin’s Comeback Vehicle
After making a crackling debut with Jayam, Nithiin followed it up with another super hit film Nuvvu Nenu. While his subsequent films did not click, the actor made a comeback with Sye.
