Brighton & Hove Albion pulled off a shocker n the Premier League after the Seagulls overturned a one-goal deficit to beat defending champions Manchester City at the Flamer Stadium on Saturday, 9th November. This defeat was City's 4th consecutive defeat in all competitions this season.
It was a day, when it looked like City will run away with a win, but fate had something else in store. It was star striker, Erling Haaland, who opened the scoring for the visitors in the 23rd minute. It was not before the 78th minute, when substitute, Joao Pedro found the back of the net and to add to the Blues' misery, another substitute in Matt O'Riley scored the winner in the 83rd minute.
In just a matter of 5 minutes, Brighton turned the tides in their favour in dramatic fashion to move up to 4th position in the EPL standings.
As for City manager, Pep Guardiola, it was the first time ever that he has lost 4 matches in a row in all competitions in his managerial career. This was the first time since May 2021, Man City have lost an EPL game, having led in the first-half. On the other hand, Brighton have now won each of their last two matches in which they trailed at the half-time break, after going winless in their previous 23 scenarios (D5 L18).
Tonight's winners are also unbeaten across their first six Premier League home matches of the season (W3 D3). It happens to be their second-longest ever such run at the start of the First Division league. Their best ever finish was back in the 1982-83, when they remained undefeated across their first seven matches (W5 D2).
City lost a glorious chance to go at the top of the league standings as a win for Liverpool in the weekend's match against Aston Villa will further solidify their lead.
