The controversial Indira Gandhi biopic Emergency directed by and starring Kangana Ranaut which was all set to be released on September 6, has been postponed indefinitely.
Zoom had a talk with someone very close to the development who said, “They have no choice. The main reason for the postponement is the censor certificate which has not been given. The producers were hoping the censor clearance and the certificate would happen by the end of this week. Now there is no hope for the certification on time. The producers have no choice but to postpone the release. This means all the costs for marketing and promotion were a waste of resources.”

What is the controversy?
A source close to the film had told Zoom about the CBFC's objections against Emergency. The source revealed, “They have objected to episodes in the film that are common knowledge and easily obtainable from the internet. They even want to change the assassination. What would they like us to show ? That a tree fell on her while she was taking her morning walk?”
While speaking to us, the source wanted to know if the film is being scrutinised by the CBFC for its leading lady and director. “Don’t punish the film for Kangana Ranaut. We all know she is controversial. But it isn’t only her film. Emergency is about the career of so many actors and technicians. Judge the film without prejudice.”
Just yesterday we asked the question if the film Emergency was being punished because of Kangana Ranaut? We now have the answer because the film, which had already been postponed multiple times due to many reasons, no longer has a release date.
