The 2024 Booker Prize shortlist has been announced, and it’s a milestone with the highest number of women ever featured in its 55-year history. This year's list includes six books, with five written by women and representing voices from five different countries, including a first-ever entry from the Netherlands. Notable authors on the list include Anne Michaels, a former Women's Prize winner, American writer Percival Everett, and British author Samantha Harvey. Each author on the shortlist will receive £2,500, and the winner, to be revealed on 12 November, will receive £50,000. The Booker Prize honours exceptional fiction written in English by authors from around the world and published in the UK or Ireland, highlighting its global influence in the literary world.
