Lakhimpur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur assembly seat, Yogesh Verma, was assaulted on Wednesday after a dispute erupted over election for the local urban cooperative bank. Cops were also present at the spot when the incident took place.
An altercation broke out between Verma and Bar Association President Awadhesh Singh. On Tuesday, the Verma had alleged irregularities in the voting process. He had also objected to the tearing of the voter list.

Today, both the parties came face to face. The MLA was manhandled and roughed up. In the video, it could be seen that an altercation escalated between Verma and Singh. Cops intervened to control the situation.

However, Singh slapped Verma. In the meantime, Singh’s supporters also came and attacked th MLA. The ruckus erupted in front of the city's Urban Cooperative Bank. The MLA was escorted by the polce from the spot. MLA accused Singh of tearing his kurta during the fight.
