The Career Services Centre Bennett University, in collaboration with Google Developers Group On Campus, Bennett University, and Placom, organized CareerCon 1.0, a pioneering event focused on placement preparation and career guidance for students. This collaborative effort brought together resources and expertise to ensure a holistic approach to career readiness, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry demands.
Prof. (Dr.) Ajith Abraham, Vice Chancellor, Bennett University captivated the audience by sharing his personal placement experiences and providing an overview of Bennett's robust placement ecosystem. The Career Services Team introduced the SuperSET Portal, highlighting its role as a central hub for job opportunities and career development. Key placement criteria such as CGPA requirements, active program participation, and strategies to enhance technical skills were also discussed. Additionally, insights into Bennett's top recruiters and placement policies were shared to help students navigate the competitive job market effectively.
An engaging alumni panel discussion brought together graduates from leading companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and HCL Tech. They shared invaluable advice on placement preparation, emphasizing a balance between technical skills, such as data structures and algorithms (DSA), and project development. Their stories underscored the importance of networking and leveraging university resources to succeed.
Another standout feature was the launch of Career Jams, a unique initiative by Google Developers Group On Campus, Bennett University aimed at boosting students’ technical skills. The initiative has been made keeping in mind the needs of students and the growing importance of valuable skills. "Career Jams" are designed to help students develop and learn key tech skills while also learning its implementation given the current demands of the tech industries. The motive of the initiative is to make the students job-ready by clearing their doubts and helping them master their skills, making this the soul of the "Career Con". Representatives from Socrates demonstrated the unique features of their platform, further enhancing the value of the event.
The event featured interactive sessions and comprehensive activities, including a Tech Training Helpdesk that offered preparatory training in DSA, DevOps, Full Stack, and more, along with resources on platforms like GeeksforGeeks, CodeChef, and LeetCode. A Competitive Exams Helpdesk provided valuable insights into exams like GRE, GMAT, and GATE, while a Higher Education Helpdesk guided students on pursuing opportunities in India and abroad. The Special Helpdesk focused on resume reviews, LinkedIn optimization, and behavioral analysis. Additionally, an industry integration session led by an expert from Google offered students a deeper understanding of current industry demands. These stalls provided a hands-on learning experience, ensuring students left with actionable takeaways.
With its interactive sessions, real-world guidance, and focus on skill development, CareerCon 1.0 set a new benchmark in career readiness programs. This initiative aims to foster structured preparation among students, empowering them to achieve their career aspirations with confidence and clarity.
