bengaluru’s green line metro to face service disruptions on these dates, full details inside

Bengaluru: Commuters on Bengaluru’s Green Line will face significant service disruptions as the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) carries out crucial signalling tests on the northern extension from Nagasandra to Madavara stations. The disruptions will primarily affect the section between Peenya Industry and Nagasandra Metro Stations on select days next month.

According to a BMRCL press release, there will be full-day service suspensions on August 30, September 6, and September 11. During these dates, metro operations will be completely halted. Additionally, alterations to the first and last train timings will occur on other selected days. These changes are essential for completing the signalling tests, which are necessary to ensure the safety and efficiency of the extended Green Line, as per a report by Hindustan Times.

The signalling tests are part of the preparation for the new 3.7-kilometre extension of the Green Line, which will connect Nagasandra to Madavara. The extension, which is expected to begin commercial operations in October, had its first trial run on August 17. This initial test covered a distance of 3.14 kilometres and marks a significant milestone in the project.

The extension will introduce three new stations: Manjunathnagar, Chikkabidarakallu, and Madavara. During this testing phase, services on the Purple Line will continue without interruption. BMRCL advises commuters to adjust their travel plans to account for these disruptions.

This announcement follows recent congestion at the Peenya Industry metro station, which experienced a surge in passengers due to service suspensions at other Green Line stations. These previous disruptions were caused by the closure of stations at Nagasandra, Dasarahalli, and Jalahalli for trial runs of the new 3.17-kilometre extension.
