Bengaluru: In a fresh trouble, jailed Karnataka BJP MLA Munirathna Naidu and six others have been booked under the section of rape based on the complaint of a Bengaluru woman. The case has been registered at Kaggaliapura Police Station in Ramanagara district and includes serious charges under IPC Sections 354A, 354C, 376, 506, 504, 120(B), 149, 384, 406, and 308.

The FIR has been filed against Munirathna and six others — Vijay Kumar, Sudhakar, Kiran Kumar, Lohith Gowda, Manjunath and Loki. This comes as Munirathna is already behind bars, facing charges related to hurling casteist slurs. Bengaluru police arrested him after two cases were filed against him accusing him of harassment and threats.

The incident allegedly took place at a private resort within the jurisdiction of the Kaggaliapura Police Station. The police sai they received a complaint from a 40-year-old woman on Wednesday night and based on it, registered a case against seven people, including the BJP MLA.

The case has been registered "under various sections for rape by public servant, sexual harassment, criminal intimidation, criminal conspiracy, voyeurism, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, Information Technology Act, and others," the police said.

According to a report in Times of India, the woman alleged that the MLA raped her for two years, adding that these men started blackmailing her with obscene videos.

The matter is being investigated.

Contractor's Complaint Against BJP MLA

The case comes days after a Bengaluru contractor filed a complaint against the BJP MLA alleging that the leader gave him death threats, abused him and said that what happened with Renukaswamy, will happen to him. The complaint was filed by Chaluvaraju on Friday against Munirathna.

The contractor met Police Commissioner Dayanand to register the complaint. "What happened to Renukaswamy will happen to you," Chaluvaraju claimed saying that MLA threatened him, reported Times of India.

He alleged that the BJP leader asked for a commission related to a contract and when offered Rs 1 lakh, the MLA refused the same and demanded full amount, the TOI report said. "MLA Munirathna has threatened me to pay Rs 20 lakhs. If I don’t pay, he said the same fate as Renukaswamy will happen to me," Chaluvaraju said, quoted TOI.
