BCCI has announced the squad for the upcoming Emerging Asia Cup which will start on October 18 in Oman. Tilak Varma will lead the India A squad which also has the likes of Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh.
The 15 member squad has also some of the consistent performers in the IPL as Anuj Rawat and Ramandeep Singh also have been named in the squad. KKR fast bowler Vaibhav Arora will lead the bowling contingent while all the eyes will be on Anshul Kamboj following his impressive performance in the Duleep Trophy.
India A is placed in group B alongside Pakistan A, UAE and host Oman. Two groups consisting of four teams each will participate in the tournament and the top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.
The semifinal will be played on October 25 followed by the final on October 27.
Only Tilak Varma and Abhishek Sharma from the current T20I series against Bangladesh will travel to Oman for the tournament. Despite providing a fast start, Abhishek failed to live up to the expectations and will aim for a good show in the international T20 competition. On the other side, Tilak didn't get a chance in the IND vs BAN T20I series and will get to lead the India A side this time.
India grabbed the T20I series 3-0 as the Men In Blue thrashed Bangladesh by 133 runs in the third and final T20I match in Hyderabad on Saturday.
