barry keoghan to return as the joker in possible spinoff series for max report

Barry Keoghan is currently filming the Peaky Blinders film alongside Cillian Murphy and Rebecca Ferguson. But the actor could be part of another major streaming project with a spinoff series for his character Joker in Matt Reeves’s The Batman Universe. According to a new rumour, the studio Varner Bros. has plans for his character to return in not just the show but a future film as well. Here’s what we know so far.

Barry Keoghan to star in Joker spinoff series for Max

According to the Marvelvision podcast, hosted by movie blogger Derek Faraci and ex-critic Devin Faraci, Barry Keoghan will return as the Joker in the spinoff series and come back as the main villain against Robert Pattinson inThe Batman Part 3. The plan is to followThe Penguin model, which has proven to be successful for the studio.

The Colin Farrell series, which also stars Cristin Milioti, is a hit with critics and fans. It also sets up the actor to return in The Batman sequel, which is said to begin filming next year with Pattinson, Farrell, Zoe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, and Andy Serkis. Director Reeves has already said that he will be making two more Batman films to complete the trilogy.

The Joker's return

Keoghan had a cameo in The Batman (2022) who talks with The Riddler, played by Paul Dano, while they are both jailed in Arkham asylum. While his character isn’t officially named, it is obvious that he is playing the Joker. The plan seems to set Joker up as the final villain for Batman in Reeves’s trilogy, just like the series is setting up The Penguin to bring back Farrell’s Oz Cobb in the second Batman film.

There will be a lot riding for the Keoghan starrer in theJoker spinoff after the massive failure of the sequel Joker: Folie a Deux this year. The Todd Phillips film starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga is said to have lost over $125–200 million for Warner Bros.
