Banks across India will observe a series of regional and national holidays in December 2024, as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines. Bank holiday vary by state, reflecting local festivals and commemorations.
The RBI clarified that all scheduled and non-scheduled banks will remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, alongside designated public holidays.In December 2024, banks are scheduled to observe at least 17 holidays (including weekend leaves).
Bank Holidays in December:
December 18 (Wednesday): Banks in Meghalaya will be closed to mark the Death Anniversary of U SoSo Tham.
December 19 (Thursday): Goa banks will observe Goa Liberation Day.
December 24 (Thursday): Banks in Mizoram, Nagaland, and Meghalaya will remain shut for Christmas Eve celebrations.
December 25 (Wednesday): Christmas will see banks closed across India.
Other state-specific holidays include the Feast of St. Francis Xavier, Pa-Togan Nengminja Sangma Day, U Kiang Nangbah Day, and New Year’s Eve celebrations, depending on the region.
