Ayushmann Khurrana is known for his unconventional roles and challenging societal norms in his films. Over the years, he has established himself as one of the most versatile and talented actors in the industry. Recently, the Article 15 actor graced his presence at an event and clarified his stance on activism.
Ayushmann says he is not an 'activist'
Calling it 'naive', Ayushmann said he doesn't see himself as an activist. He said, "I'm an actor and an artiste. Whatever I have to say, I say through my poetry, music or films. The expectation for an actor or artist to constantly voice their opinions is quite naive"
This approach allows him to express his views in a more artistic and personal manner, rather than engaging directly in activism.

He further added, "We deal with emotions, we sell emotions, we create emotions and that is our core job. But at the same time, I try to do my best as a socially responsible leader." Ayushmann Khurrana also pointed out the importance of emotional intelligence (EQ) in his profession.
Despite not considering himself an activist, he aims to be a socially responsible figure through his work. He strives to address social issues and contribute positively to society by choosing roles that reflect and challenge contemporary issues.
The actor's journey began in theatre, where he focused on unconventional subjects and explored new themes. As an outsider in the industry, he said, " I used to always tread the road not taken. I had no option as an outsider. I had to break the clutter, espouse themes which were not done before, and create something unique and palatable at the same time. So I think that was a big challenge.."
Films like Vicky Donor, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Article 15 and Bala are prime examples of his commitment to addressing social and taboo subjects.
"I think it is not fun if you don't take risks. With every story I would create something which is very different, which has never been achieved in Indian cinema before," Ayushmann concluded.
