Autodesk and the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to improve skills education for the next generation of engineers, designers, and innovators seeking successful jobs in the design and manufacturing industries. This collaboration will draw on Autodesk's industrial experience, while IIT Bombay specializes in education, research, and innovation. The goal is to develop the best talent and help create India by guiding the country's technological and scientific destiny.
Autodesk is committed to increasing access to software and technology training for these industries' future workforces by providing free software solutions in infrastructure, construction, water, manufacturing, and entertainment to over 100 million students and educators at 160,000 educational institutions worldwide.
Autodesk Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Steve Blum and Professor Ravindra Gudi, Dean of Alumni and Corporate Relations at IIT Bombay, signed the Memorandum of Understanding. This is part of Autodesk's effort to prepare students for their future careers by delivering relevant skills. By 2027, the Design and Make sectors will employ approximately 300 million people and be worth $30 trillion worldwide.
Approximately 5 million students in over 14,500 secondary and post-secondary schools across India use Autodesk software and learn how to prepare for projected skills. Recently, students who participated in WorldSkills and IndiaSkills 2024, a skills competition in which over 900 candidates from around the country demonstrated their performance in 61 competencies, were trained on Autodesk software, which led to the company becoming a global partner of WorldSkills.
