The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti alliance is all set for a landslide victory in Maharashtra. The western state's election, marred by 'cash-for-votes' allegations, witnessed a fierce battle between the Mahayuti—which comprises the BJP, Shiv Sena led by CM Eknath Shinde, the NCP led by Ajit Pawar—and the Opposition Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which includes Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SCP). According to trends published by the Election Commission, the Mahayuti is leading in 225 seats, far ahead of the MVA's 53. As early trends suggest a sweeping victory for the Mahayuti, meme-makers have turned their focus to the plight of resort owners, sparking memes on the internet.

Disappointment for Resort Owners
The origin of the widely popular ‘resort owner’ jokes lies in the unique strategies often seen in Indian politics. During situations where elections fail to produce a clear majority, political parties face the challenge of safeguarding their winning candidates from being influenced or lured away by rival factions. To counter this, parties resort to gathering their elected representatives and relocating them to undisclosed locations, typically far from the political fray. These places often resorts on city outskirts or even in different states, serve as secure spots to shield candidates from poaching attempts.
But with a clear win for NDA, resort owners are presumably disappointed – at least according to social media!
Who Will Be Next Maharashtra CM?
As Mahayuti is all set for a second consecutive term in Maharashtra and the Bharatiya Janata Party emerging as the largest party, speculations are rife regarding the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Addressing these specualations, Shiv Sena chief and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the heads of three parties – BJP, Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP- will decide on the issue once the results are declared.
