Hyderabad: The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) recently witnessed a scene of chaos after a woman joked about a bomb while the security personnel were checking her. While this created panic, the metal detector began beeping around her ankles leading to a detailed checking.
The woman, in her 20s, was scheduled to fly to Goa on Thursday when security personnel at the airport began checking her. According to a Times of India report, she was not cooperating and while the CISF personnel checked her, she said they were examining her as if she had a bomb. The mere mention of the word caught the attention of the personnel and the woman was isolated immediately, the report added.
Metal Detector Worsens Situation
The woman and her luggage were then brought to the security area for a thorough check and to everyone's surprise, the metal detector started beeping at the woman's ankles, the TOI report added. Bomb disposal team was called by them which checked her belongings and her parents were also called.
It was revealed by her parents that a metal road was fixed to the woman's ankle after a surgery a few months ago, the report mentioned, The parents also produced her medical records confirming the surgery took place.
Later, the CISF staff handed over the woman to the police. SHO at the airport, K Balaraju, said that a petty case has been registered against the woman and an investigation is underway, the report stated.
Notably, in the past few months, multiple airports and hundreds of flights across the country have received hoax bomb threats compelling them to divert, cancel, or turn back the planes. The Central government also sought a report on the same and instructed for strictest action against those creating a sense of insecurity among the flyers.
