Anushka Sharma made her first public appearance in Mumbai after the birth of her second child, Akaay, in February this year. She attended an event in the city on Wednesday evening. During the interactive session, the actress revealed her cooking routine.
At the event, Anushka said her husband Virat Kohli shares cooking duties with her for their children. The actress emphasized the need to introduce traditional recipes from their mothers to their little ones at home.
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli divide cooking duties
Anushka shared, "We had this discussion at home that if we don’t make the food our moms made at home, then we won’t be passing these recipes on to our kids. So, sometimes I cook, and sometimes my husband cooks, and we really try to replicate the way our mothers did. I cheat a little by calling my mom to ask for recipes, but it’s so important. It’s like you’re passing on something valuable to your children."
Anushka Sharma on not being a 'perfect parent' to Vamika and Akaay
At the same event, Anushka told she and Virat aren't 'perfect parents'. She candidly shared, "There is so much pressure to be like this perfect parent. We are not perfect parents, we will complain about things, and it is okay to admit it to them also. So they know that you are flawed. Imagine kids having to live up to, ‘Oh my parents are like this’. So owning your mistakes makes (it easier)."
Talking about being the children's first teacher, Anushka added, "I have realised that my daughter is very young. And I don’t think I can teach her anything. It is how we lead our lives. Are we showing gratitude to others in our daily life? Are we grateful for the things we have in life? Are we showing that as an example? Do we think this is enough? I think she has picked up on that, I don’t think I can teach her anything. For them to learn gratitude, they have to see you being grateful. It is a very selfish space to say ‘I’ll teach my child this and that’. You have to be grateful, your child will follow suit. You just have to enjoy your childhood. If you ever see them showing disrespect, they are not showing disrespect, they are just being kids and you can gently guide them. Living by example is the only way to make sure they soak the good things from the environment."
After tying the knot in a close-knit ceremony in Italy in 2017, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli became parents with the birth of Vamika in 2021. Akaay was born to the couple this year, reportedly in London.
