Just months after making his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for Mumbai Indians (MI), Anshul Kamboj wrote his name in the history books during the 2024 Duleep Trophy match between India C and India B at the Rural Development Trust Stadium B in Anantapur on Sunday (September 15). Playing for the India C team, Kamboj rattled the star-studded India B batting unit to ensure that his team got a vital first-inning lead.
While the match ended in a draw, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led team managed to take three points, while their opponents got just one point. Kamboj was the star of the show for India C after their batting unit put on a show to remember, setting a total of 525 on the board, with Ishan Kishan making a century.

Kamboj stunned India B with a historic spell of bowling that saw him take eight wickets and give away just 69 runs. Kamboj became only the third pacer in history (first in 12 years to take an eight-wicket haul) in the Duleep Trophy after Debasis Mohanty (10/46, East Zone vs South Zone 2001) and Ashok Dinda (8/123, East Zone vs North Zone 2012) to achieve the feat. His bowling figures are the second-best by a pacer and fifth-best overall in the 63-year-old history of the Duleep Trophy.
