Amar Kaushik’s Stree 2 is shattering records at the box office. The horror-comedy, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has not only won over audiences but also raked in rave reviews. With the film riding high on success, the director couldn’t be more thrilled. In his recent interview with Zoom, Kaushik shared his excitement about Stree 2‘s winning streak and revealed how he offered Akshay Kumar the iconic role in Stree 2, on the sets of their upcoming film Sky Force.
Stree 2 Director Reveals How He Offered Akshay Kumar Iconic Role In Stree 2
As fans would know, during the second half ofStree 2, Akshay Kumar made a jaw-dropping cameo in the horror-comedy. His mysterious character, yet to be named, emerges as the head of a psychiatric facility and the sole surviving member of Sarkata’s lineage. The plot gets interesting as he’s revealed to hold the crucial secret to finally putting an end to the haunting. While Akshay Kumar’s role in the film is surely intriguing, the story behind how the role was offered to him is even more intriguing.
Kaushik shared, "I never thought of bringing Akshay Sir. We were shooting in London for Sky Force. At the time, we were talking about Priyadarshan Sir and saying 'Priyadarshan Sir ki comedy ye hai wo hai (we were adoring Priyadarshan Sir's comic style) and I also like his films, bolte bolte mujhe bhi dhyaan aya ki main bhi toh comedy banata hu. (During the conversation, I thought that I also direct comedy films). So, I asked Sir Meri ek picture hai karoge kya comedy scene? (I have a film, will you do a comedy scene in it) , and he said haa, kyu nahi, kya hai bata (he asked why not, tell me)."

"Next, I got my mobile immediately and narrated the script to him. I first told him about the story and then explained the scene and dialogue. I saw him happy, and he started to have fun. Then, he opened his iPad and started reading something. I asked him, Sir will you do it? He answered 'bilkul kar raha hu beta, kab karna hai.?'(I will do it) Then he told me that he was free on Sunday, and asked me when he needed to be on the set. And at that moment I realised that it had happened," he added.
Amar Kaushik On Instructions He Gave To Abhishek Banerjee For Shooting With Akshay Kumar
Kaushik went on to explain the environment on the set when Akshay came for the shoot. The director also shared the instructions
he gave to Abhishek to shoot with him. He said, "And then the day came. He came on set and Abhishek ko mene bola fan hum sab hain but fan ban ke acting mat karna, let's go full as a character and Abhishek performed superbly and then so many improvisations, from the beginning itself, I wanted him to enter differently and then he stood up the wheelchair. Standing in a wheelchair is not easy. You need core strength. The way he was standing, and the way he had come, he gave directions that one should enter in the scene from down. I mean it was a collaboration ."(. I consider myself a collaborator more than a good filmmaker. I involve everyone in the film, everybody joins forces and then we create magic out of it).
