Aligarh Muslim University Updates: The Supreme Court on Friday overruled a key 1967 verdict denying the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) a minority tag but left it to another bench to decide if the institution should be granted this again. The issue is now left to be decided by a regular bench based on this view of the majority.A seven-judge bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, by a majority of 4:3, ruled that the Aligarh Muslim University is entitled to a minority status under Article 30 of the Constitution of India. "A minority institution must be established, and administered by a minority," the bench said.
